Volunteers are an integral part of Charnwood’s work and we are always looking for people to support us in a variety of ways across the nursery.
You don’t need any specific qualifications but you do need to be enthusiastic, patient and kind and enjoy working with young children. No two days are the same at Charnwood and we support a lot of children who have additional and sometimes complex needs, so you do have to be adaptable.
If you are looking to volunteer on the nursery floor, then ideally we are looking for people who can commit to a regular session each week for a minimum of 12 months. We are only open term time so it can easily fit in if you have school aged children or look after children in the school holidays.
Charnwood have a safer recruitment policy and this also applies when we are recruiting volunteers. On this basis you will need to complete an application form, provide the names of 2 people who can give you a reference and undertake an enhanced DBS. It may seem a lot but our priority is the safety of all our children, staff and volunteers. When you are ready to start you will receive a full induction and relevant training, you will also receive regular supervisions so we can have a chat about how things are going and support you to get the most out of volunteering.
